The weather is warming up and Spring is in the air — time to start getting ready for the coming season. Here are some ideas on how to prepare your home for Spring.
The rainy season is right around the corner, so check your roof to make sure all your shingles are intact and worry less about unexpected leaks. While you're up there, clear your gutters of debris so they're ready to direct water away from your home and prevent costly foundation repairs.
Trim back dead vegetation left over from winter and clear your yard of debris so it's ready for seeding. Once the threat of your last frost is over, plant those seeds and bulbs. Don't forget to ready the lawnmower — sharpen the blades, change the oil, and charge or fuel up.
Power or pressure wash your windows, exterior walls, vents, and driveway. Prepare your patio, clean your furniture, and get that grill ready for cooking.
Tackle the cleaning you don't do regularly — baseboards, walls, doors, blinds, light fixtures, vents, and windows. Clear out the fridge and pantry, and get rid of anything cluttering your home. Clutter can bring stress into your life even if you don't realize it.
Test your smoke, carbon monoxide, and security alarms, and replace any old batteries. And if you haven't in the last month, check your air filters and change them if necessary — they may be full from all that spring cleaning.
