Ductless air conditioning consists of a wall mounted indoor unit combined with an outdoor compressor. This type of air conditioning is more suited to single rooms, and small spaces, the same spaces a window unit would be used. Window units hang from your window, and are notorious for security issues. A ductless unit, however, only requires a small hole drilled in your wall, which prevents air leakage and security problems. Plus, they’re more aesthetically pleasing, and much quieter than a window unit.
Ductless air conditioners are also energy efficient, using up to 40% less energy than a window unit. Ductless models also have inverter-driven compressors, which controls the system based on its needs. In traditional systems, the compressor turns on and shuts off entirely, causing a lot of energy to be lost on start-up.
Certain models of ductless air conditioners can be WiFi controlled, which are ideal for smart homes. All models have a remote that controls the temperature, rather than a traditional thermostat.
